Generators - A Vital Stand-By Power Resource

There are two different generator systems - Stand Alone and Integrated Hybrid Systems - and they operate differently during a power failure.

Stand Alone Generator

A stand alone generator has a changeover panel which detects when mains power cuts out. At this stage the generator kicks in, resupplying you with power.

This process takes a few minutes, during which time your systems will have no power at all.

If your business cannot cope with this, you will need an integrated hybrid system.

Integrated Hybrid System

A hybrid system has the same configuration as a stand alone system but includes a UPS between the changeover and distribution panels.

During a power outage the UPS's battery supplies the immediate power requirement for the period until the generator takes over, so ensuring that the changeover from mains to generator is completely seamless and your power critical equipment and data are safe.
